| | Last night I saw possibly the biggest contrast of live musical performances that can be seen in one night. First, I went to the classy Old Town joint Rendezvous on the Grand to see an incredible performance by Sweet Japonic--the place was mostly empty, and Matt said that gives him crazy ideas to play crazy stuff in ways he usually doesn't, so the guitar work was mind-boggling at times, and it was a heck of a lot of fun to see them and hang out with them briefly. After that, I headed down to the somewhat less-than-classy Mac's Bar to see Endless Aisle play a mostly indecipherable set of screaming, cussing (at least I think, I couldn't really tell though), thrashing metal guitar riffs in drop D, and nonstop loud drum fills. It was intense, loud, strange, interesting, and hilarious all at the same time. And I'm pretty sure I played high school baseball again the bass player back in the day. All in all, it was quite a bizarre and entertaining evening, especially when a random guy on a bike started singing at us while we were sitting on a bus-stop bench. He definitely had a better voice than the singer from Endless Aisle.
